I grew up in a home where creativity was quietly celebrated. My mother painted often and from a young age art felt natural and welcoming. We were given space to explore and that freedom shaped how I see creativity today.
I studied Social Dynamics, completing postgraduate degrees in Sociology and Social Anthropology. Through this, I learned to observe people deeply, to look beyond words, to understand behaviour, emotion, and what lies beneath the surface. During my master’s research, a supervisor once asked me a question that changed everything: “What do you see that isn’t being said?” That question still guides me — both in life and in art.
As a child I often turned to art and imaginary play to escape the real world. That is where my lovestory with art began. It is a place that makes me feel safe and empowered. Art became my place of stillness — something I returned to throughout my life.
Over the years, through motherhood, teaching, and training in psychology courses, I deepened my connection to both people and creativity. Today, I also teach art to children, encouraging them to create freely — to know that nothing in art is wrong and everything can be reworked.
In 2024, I joined Marie Stander’s School of Art, where I continue to grow and learn with great gratitude.
Today I understand that every part — both artistic and academic — has shaped the way I see. I do not simply paint what is seen, but what is felt — the quiet, unspoken layers beneath the surface.
This is just the beginning of a meaningful journey.
